Mass Spec Analysis Achieves Statistical Confidence with Release of PeakInvestigator™ 2.0

Fully Automated Peak Detection with Mass and Abundance Confidence Intervals, Optimized Data Utility and Discovery Potential from Every Spectrum

Veritomyx, Inc., a leading innovator in mass spectral analysis software, today announced the release of PeakInvestigator™v2.0 software services (“PeakInvestigator”), the first commercial centroiding software to deliver statistical confidence for the mass and abundance of every detected peak. Confidence intervals now enable automation and reliability in multiple mass spectrometric workflows, from peak identification and quantification, to biomarker discovery, clinical diagnostics development, quality control on the production floor, and environmental monitoring. This unprecedented capability positions mass spectrometry for further acceleration into mainstream use as an analytical and bioanalytical tool.

PeakInvestigator software automatically detects and serves all major classes of mass spectrometers: Time-of-Flight (TOF), Ion trap, Orbitrap and FTICR. PeakInvestigator applies novel advanced signal processing algorithms that automatically discriminate signal from noise, improve resolution up to 4-fold, and precisely determine the statistical confidence intervals for every data feature reported.

U. Penn & Veritomyx Collaborators Significantly Improve Mass Spec Peptide/Protein ID Capability, Offering More Effective Life Sciences R&D

Results to be Presented at HUPO 2016 Conference in Taipei

Veritomyx, Inc., a leading innovator in mass spectral analysis software, today announced that Drs. Simone Sidoli and Katarzyna Kulej, collaborating from the Garcia Lab at the University of Pennsylvania, have authored a discovery-enabling scientific poster with important new findings showing how PeakInvestigator™ software significantly improved peptide sequencing and protein identifications from database search methods. The poster will be presented at the 15th Human Proteome Organization World Conference in Taipei, Taiwan on Sept. 18-22, 2016.

The research team utilized PeakInvestigator™ v1.3 software services (“PeakInvestigator”), to obtain 29% more confident peptide sequences and 19% more protein IDs in a complex human phoshoproteome study, when compared to results from the instrument software. In earlier phases of this three-part study, they found that the peptide sequences obtained with PeakInvestigator masslists produced up to 18% higher Mascot scores, as PeakInvestigator outperformed other peak picking software (OpenMS and the instrument’s apex-picking software). In the first phase, the methods were validated against 216 synthetic peptides. The second phase consisted of a medium-complexity Yeast proteome analysis. The final study was a complex human phosphoproteome, where PeakInvestigator centroiding resulted in the significantly increased confident peptide sequences and protein IDs, and also yielded up to 17% more highly-confident phosphate group localizations within the sequence.

PeakInvestigator™ v1.3 Mass Spec Deconvolution & Centroiding Software Released, Improving Biomarker Discovery Rates.

Adds Highest-Resolution Mass Spec Support, and Cost Efficiency Improvements.

Veritomyx, Inc., a leading innovator in mass spectral analysis software, today announced the release of PeakInvestigator™ v1.3 software services (“PeakInvestigator”), applying advanced signal processing algorithms to reveal peaks and biomarkers previously hidden within overlaps or below analysis thresholds in raw mass spectral data. The resulting more complete and precise peak lists increase biomarker discovery and validation rates, and provide faster, more accurate biomarker identification and quantitation results from new or existing raw mass spectral files.

PeakInvestigator now commands more efficient cloud-computing resource scaling, to deliver results with up to 3x more resource efficiency and corresponding client cost reductions. PeakInvestigator v1.3 also adds support for the very highest resolution FTICR mass spectrometers, extending PeakInvestigator services to all major classes of mass spectrometers: Time-of-Flight (TOF), Ion trap, Orbitrap and FTICR.

PeakInvestigator™ Extends Improved Discovery Capabilities into Petroleomics.

Veritomyx, Inc. announced improved discovery capabilities in highly complex petroleum samples, resulting from application of PeakInvestigator software services for detection and deconvolution of densely overlapped peaks data. In a collaboration with the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, presented at the American Society for Mass Spectrometry annual meeting (June 5-9, 2016), PeakInvestigator improved the resolution of complex petroleum FTICR spectra by 2x, resulting in more accurate component analyses at all FTICR resolutions evaluated.

This resolution multiplication allows users to extend the capabilities of existing FTICR instruments, or to generate mass list data of the same quality in half the time. Further resolution improvement up to 4x is anticipated for clients that also provide isotopically-pure spectral characterization files with their targeted specimens for analysis.

Veritomyx Launches PeakInvestigator™ Software Services to Detect and Report Previously Hidden Mass Spectrometry Data.

Veritomyx, Inc., a leading innovator in mass spectral analysis software, today announced the commercial launch of PeakInvestigator™ software services (“PeakInvestigator”), applying advanced signal processing algorithms to reveal peaks and biomarkers previously hidden within overlaps in raw mass spectral data. The result is more complete and precise peak lists that increase discovery rate and provide faster, more accurate biomarker identification and quantitation results from existing raw mass spectral files.

PeakInvestigator is a high performance computing, software-as-a-service product that can be embedded in any mass spectrometric workflow, or accessed independently for post-processing of mass spec outputs. It processes raw mass spectral scans, and delivers an effective 3-4X resolution increase beyond that visible in the original data.

PeakInvestigator’s increased resolution provides the ability to detect and exploit important new biomolecular discoveries previously hidden in data overlapped into a single peak feature. The ability to accurately detect, deconvolve and report previously hidden peaks and biomarkers offers researchers worldwide access to new discoveries mined from their enormous archives of existing raw mass spectral data.

The introduction of PeakInvestigator Version 1.2 with this launch now extends PeakInvestigator services to all three major classes of mass spectrometers: Time-of-Flight (TOF), Ion trap and Orbitrap.
